The annual review of sales/use and withholding tax filing frequencies has been completed. Letters are being mailed informing selected filers of a change in their filing frequency effective January 1, 2017.
Filing frequency is determined based on remittances for a 12-month period ending October 31, 2016, as follows:
Sales and Use Tax
- Early monthly
|$3,601 or more/quarter|
$1,201 - $3,600/quarter
$601 - $1,200/quarter
$600/year or less
|$20,001 or more|
$2,401 - $20,000
$301 - $2,400
$300 or less
Some filers will want to keep their current, more frequent filing status. They can make requests to file more frequently than stated in their letter as follows:
- Sales/use: Use the temporary link in My Tax Account sales and use tax account titled "Keep Filing Frequency." The link is only available until December 31, 2016.
- Withholding and sales/use tax: Email request to DORRegistration@revenue.wi.gov.
Requests to file less frequently are generally not allowed. Exception requests should be sent to DORRegistration@revenue.wi.gov.
