Taxpayers may request a reduction of interest for delinquent tax liabilities from 18% to 12%. To request a reduction in interest, you must:
- Submit in writing why it is fair and equitable for us to reduce the rate of interest, and
- Be current in all returns, report filings and payments for all other matters, and
- Pay the reduced amount due in full within 30 days if accepted
During our review, any existing collection actions remain in place, but we do not take additional collection actions. Once we make our decision:
- We notify you in writing
- The decision is not appealable
