To: Statutory Assessors
Public Assessors
Cc: Municipal Clerks
The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR), State and Local Finance Division would like to remind you that the 2024 filing deadline for the Municipal Assessment Report (MAR) is Monday, June 10, 2024.
Filing Impact of Act 12
- Reminder – reporting personal property now assessed as real estate due to Act 12 should be accounted for on your 2024 MAR
- Do not report this value change in new construction or revaluation
Filing Information
- Due date – June 10, 2024, by midnight
- Important – we encourage assessors to file prior to the June 10 deadline, so any filing issues can be resolved timely
- Assessor must e-file through MyDORGov
- Filing instructions – available on our website
MAR Non-filer Lists
- DOR will email an updated non-filer summary on Monday, June 10
Non-filed or Late-filed Forms
If you do not file by Monday, June 10, 2024, the following may occur:
-
Municipal reporting – municipality receives a reduced levy limit due to the lack of new construction information
- TID reporting – prior year's non-manufacturing full value is certified for the current year. This may result in less tax increment dollars available to the municipality.
Note: If you do not file a MAR by June 10, 2024, DOR's Equalization Bureau will file a formal complaint against your certification with the Office of Technology & Assessment Services, requesting a review and possible revocation of your assessor certification under state law (sec. 73.09(7), Wis. Stats.)
