As part of DOR's on-going efforts to reduce costs and operate efficiently, 2011 Forms 1099-G will be mailed only to paper filers who did not opt in to go paperless. Taxpayers who e-filed last year will not receive a paper Form 1099-G. Taxpayers and practitioners can access Form 1099-G using the secure look-up application on our
website by entering the person's name, social security number, and zip code. Taxpayers who opted to go paperless and provided their email address should receive an email notification on January 4 or 5 that their form is available for lookup.
Approximately 200,000 paper Form 1099Gs will be mailed this week, down from nearly one million in past years. The informational portion of the form has been revised to be more easily understood.
In the future, the department will work with software companies to provide direct access to the Form 1099-G data. Many companies will offer a link to the look-up in this year's software.
