The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is participating with the Departments of Financial Institutions (DFI) and Workforce Development (DWD) on a statewide web portal centralizing business registration. New Wisconsin domestic corporations and limited liability companies can use the state's
One-Stop Business (OSB) Portal to register with DFI and DOR and get registration information for DWD. OSB will collect information from the applicant and pass that information to DOR for processing the business tax registration and related permits. Excise permits and
My Tax Account registration are excluded. The portal was created in cooperation with the Wisconsin Interactive Network (WIN). Users should contact WIN with OSB system issues at (608) 250-4606 or
wi_helpdesk@egov.com (e.g., log on, browser, data entry). DOR will continue to provide customer support on who must register, permit and entity type, taxability, etc.
The completed OSB portal will:
- Streamline the business startup process
- Connect businesses to the resources they need in one place
- Eliminate the need for multiple applications and multiple entries of similar data used by all agencies
In conjunction with the OSB portal launch, DOR revised its website to promote the OSB portal. On the Businesses Tab, under Online Services, existing businesses can go directly to DOR's Online Registration System to apply for additional permits. For those starting a business, they can link to DOR's new "Starting a Business" web page. There they can either link to DOR's Online Registration System (for sole proprietors, partnerships, and out-of-state businesses and businesses needing an excise tax permit) or the OSB Portal (for domestic corporations and limited liability companies). The page also includes links to information important for any person starting a new business in Wisconsin.
